The significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in education, research, and innovation is rapidly increasing, especially within the fields of agriculture, biotechnology, and allied sciences. This book, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS, İs crafted to meet the needs of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students by offering a clear, structured approach to the principles, laws, and practical applications of IPR.
Organized for systematic learning, the book guides readers from foundational topics-including the scope, importance, and valuation of intellectual property-to advanced discussions on patent policies, plant variety protection, biotechnology inventions, technology transfer, and commercialization. It also addresses critical and emerging issues such as biodiversity, geographical indications, traditional knowledge, and international treaties concerning plant genetic resources.
Each chapter is thoughtfully designed to build conceptual clarity and connect IPR theory with real-world applications, policy frameworks, and illustrative case studies. The overall aim is to equip students not only with academic knowledge but also with the practical skills necessary to navigate the challenges of research, industry, and entrepreneurship in innovation and technology management.
This book is the result of extensive academic experience, evolving from a series of lectures and notes developed for teaching and research guidance. The author gratefully acknowledges the support and encouragement of teachers, mentors, colleagues, and the inquisitiveness of students, all of whom have contributed to the refinement of this comprehensive resource.
