The edited volume Harmony and Peace in Literary Works is an attempt to bring together various scholarly perspectives that shows how literary works across cultures, periods and genres have envisioned, promoted and appealed for the ideals of peace and harmony. An inner as well as outer balance is necessary for peaceful existence of humans with the atmosphere around. The concept of the book incorporates each and every element of our universe for being in a state of poise and calm along with humans, thus expanding the vision of peace and harmony for all. It emphasizes the relevance of literary works in fostering empathy, understanding and reconciliation in a world often divided by prejudice, violence, injustice and hatred. Whether we talk about ancient Sanskrit texts or modern literary works, literature silently performs its timeless role in shaping compassion and sustaining the universal quest for peace. Through critical analysis of various genres of literature and ancient philosophy, the contributors evaluate how profoundly poetry, drama, fiction, non-fiction and philosophical works advocate inner peace, non-violence, ethical behaviour, social justice, fair treatment and hope. The volume thus stands as a significant scholarly contribution that reaffirms literature's enduring power to inspire harmony and uphold humanity's collective pursuit of peace.
